Westfield Modern
Our clients hired us to transform their traditional suburban colonial into a modern aesthetic. This project was a “complete gut” and KBK designed the kitchen, bathrooms, all built-ins and millwork paneling and trim throughout the house. We used contemporary furniture, some designed exclusively for the space, and rich fabrics, wood and stone finishes to accentuate their travel and South African heritage. Clean lines, patterns used sparingly, curated pieces and decorative lighting were combined to achieve the dramatic contemporary feel our clients were seeking. The striking outcome also ultimately earned article recognition in Design NJ magazine.
Living Room
KBK designed the Wenge veneer gas fireplace surround, provided furniture layout and drawings, furniture selections, and a custom one-arm sofa design. The broadloom area rug with Tibetan carpet feel was fabricated to meet the budget without sacrificing the design concept.
Kitchen
We created modern, custom-designed cabinetry and accompanied these with drawings, stone selections, furniture, and decorative lighting. We reviewed shop drawings and worked with subcontractors to make sure details were understood and not omitted.
Dining room
Subtle textures like the Mica wallcovering on the ceiling, chiseled edge on the KBK custom dining table, and Zebrawood buffet created layers of interest in this monochromatic dining room scheme. We also selected accessories to compliment the client’s existing African art.
